Q?

So what does WeKast do exactly?

A.

WeKast is a super-fast, incredibly-easy, wireless device to enable you to present from your phone, to any screen, anywhere you want.

WeKast is professional solution that you can rely on. We made presenting easy so you can focus on your content and being your best!

Q?

How do I access my PowerPoint presentations from the app?

A.

It’s super easy to pre-load presentations on your device from your PC. Just drag & drop any supported files in your WeKast desktop folder to send files. This will automatically optimize your files for mobile format and sync them with your mobile app.
Once you open the app, your presentations will be downloaded and ready to go for you to present anytime, anywhere!
If you are more of a Dropbox or Google Drive user, fear not! We are working on developing a seamless integration with most cloud storage solutions. Coming soon…

Q?

What about other presentation software?

A.

For now, WeKast only supports ppt and pptx. We are working on integrating other file formats (pdf, doc, xls, Keynote, Prezi and more).

Q?

Is WeKast connected to the internet?

A.

Nope! WeKast uses a closed WIFI network between the app on your smartphone and the dongle which serve as an access point to make your TV or projector “smart” and connect directly. (distinguish between WeKast app & device)
Why should you care? Some companies will restrain access to their Internet network for security reasons. Or, for some reason your connection to their Wireless network is not working. WeKast works all the time, regardless if you have access to internet or not, you are bullet proof!

Q?

What about power?

A.

WeKast has a Built-in (internal) 5V battery for complete autonomy which can last up to 3 hours. WeKast can also be powered through the charging micro-USB connector directly to the TV or projector.

Q?

How do I set up WeKast?

A.

You don’t! That’s the beauty of it. No setup necessary. Just plug & Cast 🙂

Q?

Can WeKast support video and sounds?

A.

Yes, We Kast! We can support any embedded video and its sound.

For presentation: Low framerate and focus on high bitrate to have maximum image quality

For video: Increased buffer to remain framerate and high video quality regardless of the network condition

WeKast supports different video resolutions and automatically scale the image to fit your screen – up to 1080p. When streaming in another aspect ratio WeKast will not change the aspect ratio of the image but instead create a black bar.

Q?

Can WeKast support animations?

A.

For now, only basic “Appear” animation on click. We are working on all other animation types.

Q?

What is the latency time when changing slide?

A.

Barely any… around 25-150ms.

Q?

What is the difference between WeKast and Chromecast?

A.

Chromecast is not suited for business presentations, most people use it to watch web content and YouTube videos at home. Think of it as a browser and video streaming solution which requires an internet connection and a lengthy setup every time you change meeting room or location. Check out here the setup instructions, no fun! You’ll need to repeat this setup whenever you move the Chromecast to a new network. Chromecast does not work on wireless networks that have forced login pages, such as those common on hotel networks.

Q?

What is the difference between WeKast and Apple TV?

A.

We love Apple…but we love Freedom more! Apple TV only works with iOS devices and best compatibility is with Keynote. AirPlay lets you mirror the screen of your iOS device to appear on a projector or TV connected to the Apple TV. AirPlay streams over your network, so slower networks may experience a laggy connection or choppy video.

Apple’s $10 Keynote for iOS can import presentations made in Microsoft PowerPoint or in Keynote for OS X, but in both cases you’re likely to lose a great deal during the import process. Say goodbye to some fonts, transitions, and builds that aren’t available on the iPad, plus audio and more. Presenter notes are supported, however, whether created on the iPad or imported from a PowerPoint or Keynote for Mac presentation.

Q?

How is WeKast different than other products on the market?

A.

Simplicity of plug & play, reduced set up time and freedom to present from your own mobile differentiates ourselves from other presentation solutions. Currently, there is no standardize platform and no simple solution to present your PowerPoint presentations wirelessly from your mobile.

Q?

With which smartphones and operating system version is the app compatible?

A.

WeKast app is compatible with all iPhone & Android version 4.2 and above.
The PowerPoint plugin is compatible with Windows OS only at this time. The Mac version will be released soon!
